BroadWare Makes Strategic Appointments to Leverage Growing Market Position in Video Surveillance
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – October 12, 2005, – BroadWare Technologies, Inc., the leader in distributed video surveillance, has announced the appointment of William (Bill) Crowell as chairman of the board of directors. Crowell has a four decades-long career in security, including the top civilian position at the National Security Agency (NSA) and as chief executive officer of Cylink Corporation, a developer of public-key security systems.
Crowell is recognized as a pioneer and leading expert on the implementation of information security for both the federal government and private industry. He held several senior positions at NSA prior to being named Deputy Director in 1994, serving in that position through 1997. After leaving government, he served on the President's Export Council (PEC) under President Bill Clinton and was actively involved in working with the administration, Congress and private industry to loosen restrictions on the export of encryption products. He has also held leadership roles on many other defense-related panels, including the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Task Force on Terrorism and Deterrence, the National Research Council Committee on Science and Technology for Countering Terrorism and the Markle Foundation Task Force on National Security in the Information Age.

Crowell's experience in the private high tech industry includes the role of vice president at Atlantic Aerospace Electronics Corporation, followed by a series of senior positions at Cylink. He became president and CEO of Cylink in 1998 and continued to serve as a security advisor to the company after it was acquired by SafeNet in February 2003. In 2002 Crowell was appointed to the Silicon Valley Blue Ribbon Task Force on Aviation Security and Technology, which identified and evaluated technology-driven solutions to improve the security and efficiency of national and local aviation.

Kerry Sorenson, Vice President of Finance
In a separate announcement, BroadWare recognized the accomplishments of Kerry Sorenson by promoting him to Vice President of Finance. Sorenson has led BroadWare's finance and administration initiatives for four years, during which time the company has become the market leader in server-based technologies for management, distribution and storage of video surveillance data in network environments.
