Gastronomy Selects BroadWare Media Management System for Restaurants and Corporate Office Surveillance

Santa Clara, CA, June 5, 2007– BroadWare Technologies, Inc., the leader in open architecture distributed video management, has been selected to provide a network based video surveillance system at Gastronomy Inc.’s various restaurants, office buildings, and corporate offices in Utah. Based on the industry-leading BroadWare Media Management System (BMMS), the new video surveillance system will enable restaurant managers and security staff to simultaneously monitor their 8 restaurants as well as the 3 buildings and, in real-time, alert them of security or safety threats.

“On average, for each $1 million in sales a restaurant loses $74,000 annually through shrinkage,” said Bill Stuntz, CEO of BroadWare Technologies. “It is very important to keep a close watch on all areas of the business regardless if managers are on site or at the corporate offices. We are pleased that Gastronomy has selected BroadWare’s solution to reduce shrinkage, mitigate false slip-and-fall claims, as well as increase employee producitivity.”

Gastronomy has replaced older DVR systems with the BroadWare Media Management System which fit perfectly within the current IT network and enables a seamless transition with minimal downtime. Restaurant managers can now access video from any web browser or through a wireless connection via PDA devices giving them the flexibility to monitor restaurant activities any time. Video from camera feeds is recorded and stored so management can assess customer service levels, monitor food preparation, identify peak times, and review video associated with specific slip and fall incidents. Recorded video can also be used as a training tool for new employees. Features within BMMS also allow security staff to be alerted in real-time of break-ins or other safety threats.

“The BroadWare system replaced our old DVRs with minimum additional cost,’ said John W. Williams, CEO of Gastronomy. “ It works very well with our network topology and allows video access from anywhere at anytime. For example, last week when it snowed heavily, I was able to check the restaurant parking lots using my handheld PDA. It turned out that one restaurant parking lot was covered in snow so I was able to proactively call to have the snow removed before the restaurant opened.”

The BroadWare Media Management System (BMMS) is an enterprise solution using non-proprietary hardware that enables organizations to quickly configure and effectively manage complex video applications throughout the enterprise. BMMS provides an end-to-end browser-based solution for collecting, recording, routing, and managing live and archived surveillance video while optimizing use of bandwidth.
